This fund, created in honor of Esther Bordwell by her children, honors Esther's great love of reading and writing.  Annual distributions from this fund will be used to support projects of the Washington Public Library Foundation.

The Fenno’s generous gift will create a permanent endowment, which will generate funds annually. These funds will be used to support projects of the Washington Tree Committee. Their legacy gift will help to ensure that our tree committee will be able to continue its goal to 'put down roots for the future’ in Washington, Iowa.”

"Ding" Darling for his devotion to conserving Iowa's natural beauty.  Come for a scenic picnic or celebration at the lodge, or enjoy an extended stay in our camping cabins.  Lake Darling abounds with wildlife.  Anglers will encounter a wealth of fish at the lake, from catfish to bullheads, bluegill to largemouth bass.  Hike through a re-established prairie, or trek through the woods to an historic cemetery.  Journey through a variety of Iowa's natural scenery at Lake Darling State Park.

The mission of the Highland Community School District is to provide all students the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to fulfill their potential and become positive contributors to society.

Hospice of Washington County is a hospice care provider in Washington, IA 52353. Hospice care is prescribed for critically ill individuals with a life expectancy of six months or less. The primary goal of this care is keeping patients as comfortable as possible throughout the end stages of life. These comfort measures include pain management and methods for minimizing disease-related symptoms. Hospice care can be provided in the home, hospital, long-term care facilities, or a stand-alone hospice house.

Stroll through our scenic 1800's village and explore pioneer life in 13 authentic buildings. Each structure is painstakedly restored and filled with interesting and informative displays depicting the rugged years our immigrant settlers spent taming the Iowa prairie. Established in 1969 with the relocation of the Rock Island depot, the village encompasses the eras from our earliest frontier days of the Snyder Log Home, to the victorian influence of the lovely Wahl House.

Kalona Public Library Foundation Fund

The mission of the Kalona Public Library is to provide information and materials of general interest free to the public in a pleasant and helpful environment where people can meet, and receive help for lifelong learning.

The Parkside Activities Center is a 38,900 square foot multi-level, multi-purpose facility with professional child care; a Mid-Prairie Pre-School; a 320+ person banquet hall; an activities room with a Wii, pool table, bumper pool table, and other activities; a regulation basketball court; two smaller practice basketball courts; a regulation volleyball court; two practice volleyball courts; and a health club style gym facility featuring the latest treadmills, ellipticals, and weight equipment.

United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties is a local, non-profit organization that brings people, health and human service agencies, government entities, and community groups together to help our friends, family members, and neighbors who are in need.

We research community needs and work with local government entities, human service organizations, community leaders, donors and service organizations to address pressing community needs.

The Foundation was inspired by long time community benefactor, Bill Sitler, to encourage and financially support projects which physically improve, beautify and enhance Washington. It is a means for individuals, groups, and corporations to make tax deductible gifts to worthwhile community betterment projects.

Central Park Community Center Scholarship Fund

Washington, Iowa

The Central Park Comunity Center was established as a non-profit organization in 1999.  Their home was a storefront on the south side of the Washington Square.  The center closed, sold their building and shut down their organization.  The remaining members took the proceeds from the sale of the building and established this scholarship for needy and deserving Washington HIgh School graduating seniors.  Scholarship applications and selections will be administered by the WHS scholarship committee.  Anyone may contribute to this fund clicking the donate button shown.

John Kessell Legacy Music Education Fund

Washington, Iowa

John grew up in Washington, IA. He was very grateful for the education he received here and took music with him throughout his life. He loved working with students and wanted them to know they could do the same. Annual distributions from this fund will be channeled through the Washington Music Boosters and will support K-12 music programs in the Washington Community Schools.

Mrs. Driscoll's Pick and Keep Book Fund

Judy Marshall Driscoll grew up in Washington, Iowa and taught in several communities in eastern Iowa, most recently at Washington’s St. James Catholic School. Throughout her life she was devoted to education and youth in her community. Although she retired from classroom teaching, Judy continued to teach those who knew her lessons of faith, strength, perseverance, humor, and generosity. Judy passed away in 2021 and this fund, established in her name will be used to support the distribution of books to students at the St. James School in Washington, Iowa.

United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties Valentine Education Friends Fund

United  Way of Johnson and Washington Counties is a local, non-profit  organization that brings people, health and human service agencies,  government entities, and community groups together to help our friends,  family members, and neighbors who are in need. This fund was started by  Ann Valentine, a member of one of the commissions of the United Way and a  board member of the  Community Foundation of Washington County. Dr. Valentine established  this fund to ensure a continuing effort to promote literacy in  Washington County, Iowa  and invites others to join in this effort, too.

Washington County Hospital and Clinics is a vital health care center because of the vision, dedication and philanthropic commitment of area residents.  The WCHC Foundation was incorporated in 1995 and is a 501 (c)3 charitable organization which encourages, accepts and stewards all public and private gifts, grants and contributions. Distributions from this fund will be used to support projects of the Washington County Hospital Foundation.
