Herb and Betty Jensen Osincup Legacy Fund
New Legacy Fund Created
A new endowment fund, named in honor of Herb and Betty Osincup, a Washington, Iowa couple has been created and established with the Community Foundation of Washington County. Herb and Betty Osincup are long-time Washington residents who owned and operated the Osincup Drug Store on the west side of Washington’s square for nearly 40 years. They were both very active in the community, participating in community theater productions and they were well known for their enthusiastic participation in Washington’s Ridiculous Day with their costumes and floats.
Herb worked as a pharmacist, first in other local businesses and then at the Osincup Drug Store. Betty assisted in many ways in the operating of the store and together they raised 4 daughters. Herb passed away in 2004 at the age of 86 and Betty is living today at the Halcyon House in Washington and is 104 years young.
The “Herb and Betty Jensen Osincup Legacy Fund” will be used to support the work of the pharmacy at the Washington County Hospital and Clinics in Washington. The WCHC has served Washington County for over 100 years and continues to offer new services, programming and new equipment to meet the needs of the people they serve.
“This fund will continue the legacies of Herb and Betty and will grow and provide a steady source of income for the causes they cared about far into the future,” says CFWC Executive Director, Millie Youngquist. “Also, anyone may make a tax-exempt donation to these funds and be eligible to receive an Endow Iowa tax credit for their donation.”
