CHEF'S SPOTLIGHT -- 2019

The Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) hosted its Eleventh Annual Fund Raising Dinner on Monday evening, November 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Parish Life Center in Richmond, Iowa.

This year, the dinner featured the culinary talents of Randy Rodgers of "Cilino's" Restaurant in Wellman, Iowa.  Ardon Creek Winery from Letts, Iowa had wine for sampling and purchase beginning at 5:30 p.m.  The featured speakers were Nancy Roth and Janet Ferry from the Kalona Historical Village.

A continued feature this year was a Dessert Auction, with pies, cakes and special treats donated from area restaurants, bakeries and individuals.  These were auctioned off in a live auction as the final course -- the proceeds benefiting the Kalona Historical Village and the Community Foundation of Washington County.

AWARD DISTRIBUTION

On Monday, April 15th, 2019 the Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) distributed over $26,000 in funds to 20 Washington County non-profits at a reception held at the Washington Public Library. These organizations currently have endowment funds invested with the CFWC and their lead organization, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. Since its beginning in 2006, the Community Foundation of Washington County has distributed over $275,000 to non-profit causes here in Washington County.

The CFWC was formed in 2006 and seeks to strengthen the communities of Washington County by promoting philanthropy, supporting non-profits and helping donors fulfill their charitable goals. The foundation is overseen by a volunteer board of local citizens and permanently endows most of its assets, insuring that gifts given will last forever. For more information about the CFWC and how to set up a fund, contact Millie Youngquist, Executive Director at cfwashingtoncounty@gmail.com or visit their website at: www.cfwashingtoncounty.org.
